Our revered and much-loved father Elder Chrysostomos passed away today, on the day of the Feast of the Virgin of the “Fairy Tale”, January 21, 2021, during the evening hours, at the age of 74 in Thessaloniki, where it was introduced on Christmas Eve.
He was born in 1947 in Thessaloniki. He was the 4th and last child of Konstantinos Tsavdaridis, from Pontus, and Despina Tsavdaridou, of the Nomidos family, from Ferteki, Akoni, Cappadocia.
During the Holy Baptism he received the name of his sleeping father, Constantine.
From a young child of 7 years he made the decision to dedicate himself to God.
He studied at the Higher Ecclesiastical School of Thessaloniki and at the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Ikari was a monk from the blessed metropolitan of Lagada, Mr. Spyridon, on May 6, 1970, at the age of 23, at the Holy Sanctuary of St. Mary Magdalene in Halkidiki. He received the name Chrysostom. The next day he was ordained a deacon and on August 28, 1973 an Elder by the same Metropolitan.
From 1970 to 1979, Fr. Chrysostom served the people of God in the Diocese of Lagada.
During the 1970s he made repeated and multi-day pilgrimages to Mount Athos, visiting mainly the desert of Mount Athos, and gathering the honey of peace during his intercourse with virtuous ascetics and blessed ascetics.
In 1979 he received a diploma for the Diocese of Polyana, Goumenissi and Kilkis. On November 8, 1981 (Feast of the Archangels), the first Divine Liturgy was performed in the Holy Convent by Metropolitan Ambrose, in the newly completed Holy Temple of the Archangels. On August 18, 1985, the same Metropolitan ordained Elder Chrysostom as a Grand Monk, giving him the great and angelic figure of the monks, and on the same day he enthroned him as Professor of the Holy Monastery.
Simultaneously with the reconstruction and the manning of the male Monastery, Fr. Chrysostomos established a fraternity of monks, spiritually dependent on the Holy Convent.
This fraternity was initially established in the Holy Monastery of Agios Georgios Trimorfos in the village of Monastiraki of the Metropolis of Sidirokastro with the blessing of the relevant metropolitan Blessed John. He remained there during the period 1998-2008. In 2006, at the invitation and blessing of the Blessed Metropolitan of Lagada, Mr. Spyridon, Elder Chrysostom began the construction of another monastery, the Holy Shrine “Panagia Axion in Thessaloniki”.
Later, the metropolitan of Langadas, Leta and Rentinis, and already blessed John, eloquently blessed this effort from the beginning. The female fraternity (about 20 nuns today) has been established since 2008 in the Holy Shrine, always under the spiritual guidance of Fr. Chrysostom as well as of the current Professor of the Holy Parish.
⁇ Ἀοίδιμος Γέροντας βίωνε τον Μοναχισμός ἐμπειρική, βιωματικά. Ζοῦσε ἀπό ἐδῶ τήν χαρά τῆς Βασιλείας τῶν Οὐρανῶν. In addition to the two monastic fraternities he mentally guided, he was also a confessor and spiritual guide to hundreds of our lay brothers.
The sleep of the revered Elder coincided with the time when the Holy Convent celebrates its 40th anniversary. On May 6, 2020, the revered Elder had completed 50 years of solitary life.
His numerous spiritual children, the two monastic fraternities, clergy and laity, reverently incline the offspring of the soul and the body, humbly kiss his hand and lead him to eternal bliss, in the arms of the good child, who embraces the little child of Christ. meeting and good resurrection.
